The sector of steel pipe in Turkey first started in 1957 with Mannesmann Sümerbank. After a year, Borusan Boru was founded. The first industrial firm of Borusan, enhanced through out the years and in 1998, Borusan merged with Mannsmannröhren Werke AG. By 2004, Borusan took over Mannesman Boru, and the two corporations united together under its new title Borusan Mannesmann Boru. With this merger, annual manufacturing capacity rose to 750 thousand tons while it employed 1400 people. Its endorsement rose to 370 million dollars and it became one of the top five steel pipe producers in Europe.

The missions of Borusan Mannesman are; to show that Turkish industrialists can become an important player through out the international sector, to prove that it has enough capacity to operate in this international segment and as a consequence of all these facts, to enhance the reputation of Turkey and to contribute to the process of integration with the European Union.

Borusan Mannesmann products include; water and gas installation pipes, industrial pipes, special pipes for furniture, textile and automobile industry, boiler tubes, roof construction, tubes that are used for agriculture machines, plastic pipes and fittings, the spiral pipes for water, petroleum and natural gas transmission line and so on. The firm is unique in the world with more than 4000 different products; and also it is the only firm that produces plastic and steel pipes among the pipe producers in the world.

Borusan Mannesmann owns 4 major manufacturing facilities, 3 in Turkey and 1 in Italy. It serves its customers in 7 regional firms and 78 retailers. With its high quality standards in production and in its employment strategy, it is followed by the other firms.
