Seeking to consolidate its global market presence and gain the competitive upperhand, in 1998 Borusan Boru merged its welded steel pipe operations in Turkey with the prominent European industrial company Mannesmannröhren Werke. The mega-merger resulted in Borusan Mannesmann Boru Yatırım Holding, one of Europe's top five welded steel pipe producers.
