BORUSAN MANNESMAN BORU

Borusan Mannesmann Boru emerged in 2004 through the merger of Borusan Group’s first industrial enterprise Borusan Boru and Turkey’s first steel pipe producer Mannesmann Boru. With an annual production capacity of 750.000 tons, Borusan Mannesmann is among Europe's five largest pipe producers.

The company has plants in Gemlik-Bursa, İzmit - Köseköy and Halkalı-İstanbul. Gemlik plant which has a total capacity of 350.000 tons produces longitudinally welded water and gas pipes, construction pipes and profiles and pressure pipes. Halkalı plant, with 100.000 tons of capacity, produces longitudinally welded industrial tubes, construction pipes and profiles and cold drawn tubes (special pipes). The İzmit plant is specialized in the production of high value added spirally welded pipes, which are used in energy and infrastructure projects, and also produces construction pipes and profiles. 150.000 out of the total 300.000 tons of capacity are allocated to the production of spirally welded pipes. Since 1995, Gemlik plant has the distinction of being the only facility in the world to produce both steel and plastic pipe, with a plastic tube capacity of 10.000 tons/year.

Overall, Borusan Mannesmann operates with 80% average capacity utilization ratio, far above sector averages.

In 1993, Borusan Mannesmann was the first Turkish pipe producer to receive ISO 9001 Quality Certification.

Borusan Mannesmann products are sold under Borusan, Mannesmann and Kartal brands through an extensive sales and service network consisting of 7 regional companies and 75 dealers.

Borusan Mannesmann has a market share of 55 % in domestic water & gas, pipes segment and is established market leader. The company has a market share of 20% in spiral pipes and 20% in industrial pipes. In special pipes segment Borusan Mannesmann has a strong position with 50% market share.

In international infrastructure and energy projects, Borusan Mannesmann is a reputable player with a solid track record. The company has been the preferred pipe supplier of major energy projects in Turkey in the last decade including Blue Stream, Iran-Turkey,Russia-Turkey and domestic natural gas network. Recently in 2004, Borusan Mannesmann completed the delivery of 66 ktons of spiral pipes worth 72 m$ for Baku-Tblisi-Ceyhan Project.

Borusan Mannesmann has a remarkable exports potential and exports constitute at least 35% of total sales almost every year. Major export markets are USA & Canada and Europe each making up 40% of total export tonnages.

Borusan Mannesmann Boru Yatırım Holding, founded in 1998 to manage the Group's joint ventures and investments in steel pipe industry, holds 73% of Borusan Mannesmann shares after the merger. 16% of the shares are in free float. 77% of Borusan Mannesmann Boru Yatırım Holding shares belong to Borusan Group and the remaining 23% is held by Mannesmann Röhrenwerke AG.
