The concepts of education and development at Borusan consist of strategic information management, performance management and employee development. The Borusan Academy currently offers comprehensive education and development programs that are designed to create a difference in the business processes and personal development of all Borusan employees.
The vision of the Borusan Academy is to cultivate business leaders who create added value. For us, the concept of a “business leader” has a much deeper meaning than the one usually associated with the hierarchy of a simple business organization structure. Borusan maintains that all of its employees are leaders in the jobs they are responsible for regardless of the level of the organization in which they work. The Borusan Academy was established with the intention of creating an opportunity for all Borusan employees to develop themselves and reach their full potential, both in their job performance and in their personal lives, in the best way possible. In line with this mission the Borusan Academy provides for the educational and developmental needs of all its employees through joint programs offered on a comprehensive platform. The education and development journey for most Borusan employees begins with the Group Orientation Program. Following that, employees take part in a 14 –day Fundamental Program of Borusan which is actually spread out over a period of two years. During this time span Borusan employees may also choose to take part in any other personal development program at the Borusan Academy in accordance with their own desires.
The strategic programs at the Borusan Academy are given by the Leadership, Sales, and 6 Sigma Faculties.
The Leadership Faculty at the Borusan Group was established for the purpose of training leaders who, under changing circumstances, are able to determine strategy by managing information, use resources for the attainment of results, manage change and are capable of continually developing themselves as well as their team.
The Group’s Sales Faculty was created with the mission of establishing sales teams that achieve sustainable growth while maintaining a customer oriented approach that is flexible enough to meet changing customer needs and expectations even in an environment of increased competition.
The Leadership and Sales Faculty programs are jointly offered with the assistance of Sabancı University. They consist of various certification programs which include long-term postgraduate level education and development topics prepared by locally and internationally renowned experts in their fields.
The Borusan Group, as a result of the successful implementation of the simple 6 Sigma methodology in its business processes, is currently ranked high among the exemplary companies both locally and internationally. Borusan employees are able to make a big difference by learning this methodology via the 6 Sigma Faculty and implementing it in their business processes. The training at the 6 Sigma Faculty is offered by in-house instructors.
Borusan employees who meet certain criteria are able to participate concurrently in the Borusan Academy as well as in joint programs.
During the 2008 Cubic Awards Ceremony (Corporate University Best in Class), which is attended by many other corporate universities and companies offering educational consulting, the Borusan Academy received an honorary award in the category of “Best New Corporate University”.
