Award-Winning quartet: Borusan Quartet

Founded under the guidance of Gürer Aykal in 2005, Borusan Quartet is comprised of Esen Kıvrak and Olgu Kızılay on violins and Efdal Altun on viola and Çağ Erçağ on cello. Joining the masterclass workshops organized by persons and communities such as Alban Berg Quartet, Juilliard Quartet, Gürer Aykal, Joshua Epstein and Maxim Vengerov, Borusan Quartet earned the credit of Maggini Foundation located in Switzerland and seized the opportunity Stradivarius (1714 “Adam”), N. Amati (1662), A. Testore (1725) and Petrus Guarneri (1740) as a result of collaboration with Borusan Sanat.

Becoming prominent as a result of domestic and overseas tours as well as its regular season concerts held at Süreyya Opera House located on the Anatolian coast of Istanbul, the Borusan Quartet was awarded the prize for "Chamber Music Quartet of the Year" in the first Classical Music Awards Ceremony organized by the magazine Andante in 2010. Likewise in the same year, Borusan Quartet won the gold metal ranking at the top in 2010 ICMEC International Chamber Music Quartet Competition, the final of which is held at Carnegie Hall in New York.

Giving the first classical music concert aired live online in Turkey, the Quartet first performed the works by Oğuzhan Balcı, Mahir Çetiz, Turgay Erdener, Özkan Manav, Alper Maral, Turgut Pöğün and Hasan Uçarsu as ordered by Borusan Sanat for the Quartet.

Featuring, among others, highly remarkable musicians such as Fazıl Say, İdil Biret, Itamar Golan, Valentin Erben, Gülsin Onay, Hüseyin Sermet, Ruşen Güneş, Reto Bieri, Toros Can, Ferhan & Ferzan Önder and Muhiddin Dürrüoğlu as the partners of chamber music, Borusan Quartet has a large repertoire from the classical period to the modern period with the high involvement of Turkish composers.
